It’s been what seems like a crazy week and I don’t really know why. I’m hoping to get caught up this weekend.
P.S. You just said right now, “I’m making poop (grunt)”
And I’ve now been informed that it’s a stinky one … both by you and my nostrils.
Maybe I shouldn’t be allowed to write stream-of-conscious style anymore.
Off to change a poopy diaper
Last night while Mommy was out walking you and I were sitting on the sofa watching Jeopardy! You were doing your usually climbing up on the sofa, climbing down from the sofa. On you last climb-up-the-sofa trip you said, ‘I love you daddy’.
Now, it of course sounded more like, “I uv u daee” and it took me a second to realize what you had just said. At first I thought I was just hearing things, but then you gave me this big hug.
Needless to say I was both flabergasted and floored, but if there’s anything as cool as unconditional love from your kid, I don’t know what it could be.
Truly an amazing experience.
This morning you work up right before I left for work. Mommy went into your room to get you. The FIRST thing you asked was, “Where my daddy?” So I walked in and you got a big smile on your face. It was so nice. But the caper for the morning was when I asked for a hug and kiss. You ran over to me as fast as you could and wrapped your little arms around my neck and then gave me a peck. I stood up and you moved toward my leg. I thought you were going to ‘help’ me find the door, but instead you gave my leg the biggest hug ever.
I so didn’t want to come to work today.
It’s always nice to get out of the desert and head to our favorite place on the coast. Grandma Janie’s trailer. It’s a good time and there’s always lots of opportunities for pictures. The fun down at the beach. Breakfast at the hippy place. The train ride to no where. And so, I was raring and ready to go with each of these activities to take a picture or two here and there. Only, the conversation that seemed to occur more often than the fun we had was, “I thought you had the camera.”
So, no pictures this time. But a lot of good times. On Saturday we went to the beach and thought for sure that you’d only last for about 5 minutes, seeing as how you went to bed at 10:30 and woke up with the 5:40 train.
But no, you were a perseverer and stayed as active as possible at the beach and were only convinced to go back to Taywum’s House by the lure of MILK.
On Sunday we rode the train with Grandma Janie and Mimi, “Just to see where it would go.” You were very excited, although after an hour of going to the end of the line, you were done. The only problem of course is that we still needed to go back to our stop. Luckily, we found a stop to get off at and have lunch, so that provided the necessary respite you needed from your train adventures.
I think we had so much fun as a family this weekend. It’s just too bad we didn’t get an pictures. Well, maybe next time. ![]()
Last night you didn’t want to brush you teeth. You did everything you could to keep from performing that chore. First, it was ‘Abby do it’. I said, no, ‘Daddy do it’. Then you walked around in circles with your mouth agape and generally acting silly. I cracked a smile (because it was funny!) and this was my downfall! In the sternest daddy voice I could muster I said, ‘Abby, we need to brush your teeth.’ But of course, when a daddy is smiling and trying to be stern it just looks silly.
I’ll need to work on that ![]()
