We drove out to Grandma Paula’s house tonight and while waiting at a stop light you asked me, “Why does red mean stop?”. I have no earthly idea. I couldn’t even come up with a reasonable guess of an answer. And that’s what I told you. I said, “I don’t know, but maybe we can investigate it, like Sid the Science Kid, when we get home!”
That seemed to please you for a second and then you said, “Maybe it’s because red is the first color in the rainbow.”
I did a little research when I got home and found that it mostly has to do with the railroads and red intrinsically meaning ‘danger’, but I think you’re idea is by far the best.
There is no other child on the planet that seems to know their bed time better than you. Tonight you were watching Sponge Bob Square Pants and saw some commercials for the new episode that was to be on at 8 (which is also you’re bed time).
While you were watching it (back in my room) you got off of the bed and walked to the sliding doors to see how dark it was outside (to determine it was going to be your bedtime).
You decided that you could stay up for a little while and watch it. I have never seen you trying to fight such heavy eye lids in my life. You made it to about 8:30 (which I think is the half way point) and then you gave up.
You said, “Daddy … I think I’m ready for bed.”
Well, I can’t say you didn’t try. Good night sweet heart.
