Sometimes brushing your teeth is the cutest thing of the day, and sometimes it’s the most trying thing that I do. It goes like this:
Abby: It’s time to brush my teeth. I go hide
Daddy readies the toothbrush. You ‘hide’ under you covers.
Daddy: Is Abby in the hamper?
Abby (giggling): No!
Daddy: Is Abby in the closet?
Abby (giggling): No!
Daddy: Is Abby in the cradle?
Abby (giggling): No!
Daddy: Is Abby in the drawer?
Abby (giggling uncontrollably): No!
Daddy (uncovering Abby): Is Abby … under her blanket?
At which point you giggle like a maniac and say that you were hiding. I then brush your teeth which involves me usually holding down your arms so you don’t cover your mouth and your legs so you don’t kick me. And then I spend a couple of minutes trying to brush your teeth. Some nights I’m very successful … some nights I give up about half way through.
Tonight was one of the good nights.
Abby answered, “No.”
