This letter is bit late, and will probably be a bit short. You were absolutely amazing this month. You are turning into such a little person with every passing day, and your personality has developed so much over the last 30-ish 40-ish days. You had your first experienced Christmas and even got the whole present opening thing at last. You started to come out of your shell at family functions and even out in public.
You’ve become much more adventurous around people not called Mommy or Daddy. You like to watch Wheel of Fortune to call out letters (mostly T) and Jeopardy! so you can clap when a Daily Double is stumbled on.
I’ve started looking back on some of the original pictures from this blog and I realize how much you’ve grown in the 7 months since I’ve started writing. I can’t even describe how glad I am that I started doing this, not only for you, but for me as well. There’s always so much going on, but if I can take 15 minutes a night to take a picture and write some stuff down it helps me to not forget all of the great things you’re doing and all of the fun times we’re having.
I’m so glad that you are here with me and Mommy. And every day, I’m a little more gladder
Love,
Daddy
Today you are sick … cough, cough, cough. So instead of trying to get an avant garde picture of you, we just watched ‘Teen Best Friends Week (yuk!) on Wheel of Fortune. The only upside is that you’re getting really good at calling out letters.
Yesterday you woke from your nap, said hi to Mommy and proudly declared ‘Flowers’ as you pointed at the flowers on your wall. As though it was the most apparent thing in the world … and why would anyone even take note of it, because of course they’re flowers. What else would they be? You do this every once in a while. It still amazes us.
As for today … well the 2 of us hung out at the MALL! That mecca of consumerism. We walked there from my office and proceeded to hang out at Barnes & Noble, and the Playland. Alternating back and forth. We started at BN and then went to the play land. After a while you started saying, ‘books’ … or what I thought was ‘books’. Turns out you were saying milk. Woops!
Well, we still had fun in the kids area at the book store and at the play land.
Today we all went to California Pizza Kitchen and it reminded me of the last time we went when you sat in a booster seat. Well, today you didn’t even need to booster seat. It really hit home with me. You’ve been doing this at home for a while now, but I never made the connection until today.
Wow, how time flies.
Mommy just told me a great story about your playing habits today. You were over at Chloe’s house playing when suddenly Finley had a toy that you wanted. So you decided that you would just take it from her! Well, Mommy saw this and was having none of it (good for Mommy!) So she pried the toy out of your hand and told you that you aren’t allowed to take toys from your friends; that if you do this, you’ll have to go on a Time Out. So, you then did something cute, were distracted and asked Mommy to put your sun glasses on. Then, you marched right over to the nearest corner and stood there on a self imposed Time Out for about 20 seconds and then continued to play.
