Yesterday you decided that you would no longer require help when taking your shoes off. You and Mommy came home from an outing. You walked over to your chair, sat down and proceeded to remove your shoes. Mommy asked if you wanted help, to which you replied with a grunt and a head shake and then you took them off all by yourself! Absolutely amazing! One day you don’t want to do much of anything on your own, but the next day, well that’s a different story! You are a strong, independent woman and you can do it on your own.
The other cool new thing that you’ve started to do very well is the motions that go along with the songs we sing. You’ll do the itsy-bitys spider with your fingers, the rain washing the spider out and the sun coming up. You do all of the parts of patty-cake, with my favorite being the ‘Toss it up!’ which you get quite a kick out of.
My favorite though is ‘The Wheels on the Bus’. You do it all. The wheels go round and round, the horn goes beep, and the wipers go swish, all the while you do your best to imitate (or maybe it’s your own interpretation) of the movements you see me and Mommy make. It’s hillarious! I’ll get video of it and post it soon because it’s just too cool not to.
With all of the new cool stuff you do, there’s still scream of joy you give off when I come home from work. That one is still my favorite
Yesterday while the sprinklers were on in the back yard, you were sitting on my lap and we watched the sprinklers create a small, beautiful rainbow. I think it’s the first one you’ve ever noticed. You looked and pointed and then looked back at me with awe and wonder and this big goofy smile. It was awesome. The sprinklers went on for a while, the rainbow stayed there and we just looked at it.
Finally, the sprinklers were done watering the yard and the rainbow disappeared. You turned around and looked at me, spread your hands out palm side up with your elbows bent (Abby speak for, “Where did it go?”).
An incredible event for me. You never cease to help me notice the wonder of the world.
