Shagging Pop-flies in a dress

After dinner tonight you and I went into the backyard to play. Once out there you immediatly pointed to the ball and bat, so I picked them up and started hitting the ball. You’d run over to where it was, and depending on how hard the ball was to get for you, you’d either point at the ball and wait for me to come and get it or you’d pick it up and bring it to me.

When the ball was in the grass I could see your mind spinning, trying to figure out the shortest path to retreiving the ball. For some strange reason you have the strongest aversion to grass. I can’t tell if it tickles your feet or if you just don’t like nature (like Mommy).

We played outside for about a half hour. I’d hit the ball, sometimes we’d go get it together, other times you’d do it on your own.

The best part about all of this is that I have the time to do it. I know that today jobs can be all consuming, but the job I have right now, although frustrating at times, allows me to play with you, and just be there to watch you grow up. For that I will forever be grateful.
